I’ve been really distracted this past week or so because all that networking such
and such finally came back my way. Last week I got a much welcomed call from
Wieden + Kennedy to work in their studio as a freelancer!
I’m super excitednervousamped and I’m not quite sure what to do with myself,
hence my blog absence.
I’ve got a few things I’m working on right now, so hopefully I’ll be able to share more projects with you all soon. Thanks for paying attention to me!

Yesterday I got a flat on my way home from work. Neat!
I was rescued by lovely Erica and Tyler. The story ends well, (thanks to Tyler’s bike savvy) my bike is in good health.
side note: to any potential bike-snobs reading this blog, I understand there may be a bit of contreversy surrounding the accuracy about how my bicycle has been depicted.
All concerns have already been taken into account. And shut up.

Made a llama, it’s about 5″tall and it’s made of paper. It now belongs to
my Grandma Jo, who keeps company with numerous llamas on her farm.
The only frame I could find last minute was one of those floating glass ones,
which I wasn’t thrilled with but it turned out fine in the end.

Back to work!

Got a couple of things going on over here in my fortress of solitude. Getting excited about recreational drawing again and decided to tackle a photograph of my great grandmother that I swindled away from my lovely mother years ago. Just playing around with texture/pattern. Above is peek, perhaps a bit hard to make out. I guess that’s what a peek is. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I enjoyed making bear so much that I thought another paper cutting project was called for. My floor is littered with tiny construction paper triangles. No pictures of that, you’ll have to take my word for it.

Did a quick illo for the paper this week. It’s always a nice change of pace from designing ads and such. Anyway, I like seeing my work in print (even if the registration this week was sorta off.)

I almost didn’t buy this mug. It was a toss up between cowboy here and a mug in the shape of Zoltan from the movie Big. In the end, the boots won out. I don’t even know how there was a contest in the first place but what can I say, I was younger and dumber.
And we’re still together after all these years.

The hat got cracked the day after I bought it when my friend Jeff drunkenly tried
to wear it. We don’t talk much now-a-days. The hat itself has caused me some measure of grief in the past. Last year it went missing for several months leading me to suspect coworkers to petty-theft. Luckily Erik found it much later perched high up on a shelf that I, as a shorter individual, was unable to access.
Here’s a drawing I made during the time of the hat’s absence:

It was a trying time needless to say. I don’t typically get this attached to beverage containers, but I think it’s plain to see that this particular vessel has that special something that other mugs lack. Namely, legs.

Been spending some serious quality time with construction paper lately.
Here’s the fruits of my recent labor.
