There will be a release party at Tiga (NE Prescott and 15th) tonight starting at 7pm. Come and show some respect!
Tom Humphrey will be DJing the event and that in itself is worth putting on shoes for.
Poster show went really well last night. Much money was raised.
My contribution is above. It has the Haiti national motto on it “Strength through Unity” or “Unity Makes Strength.” French.
I hear tell that it sold out last night but maybe we’ll screen another set of them later seeing that they are on sale now.
Regardless, there are a several more lovely pieces to buy here.
I wold like to publicly thank Walker for printing non stop this week in preparation for the show.
W+K is throwing a poster show this Thursday February 4th. I’ve got one in there as well as many of my talented coworkers.
“Our studio is putting together a gallery show in our lobby this coming first Thursday. Over 34 designed and hand silkscreened
posters from our studio and friends will be on display and for sale. Proceeds for the event will benefit Mercy Corp.
Wieden+Kennedy will match all funds raised at the opening. Special performance by Les Etrangers. Doors open at 5:30.
Mine is still waiting to be pulled, I’ll post it later.
David Neevel teaches you how to cook a hot dog! I should say that I’ve already pin-pointed one continuity error but I’ll wait for the IMDB
entry before I post it. Watch it and enjoy your brains out. I DID.
Since David has the floor, I should mention that he has a show coming up:
An Exhibition by David Neevel
Opening Reception: Friday January 22
Jan 22 – Feb
Go and see what several neon signs lost their lives for. Don’t let their sacrifice be in vain.
Latest book project is about ready to hit the streets so it’s time to drink.
There’s some fantastic talent in this book, so I hope you can come to Tiga on the 24th to get a good look and say hi.
Even if you don’t like books, there’s good reason to come by. It will be the inaugural flight of the Potato Champion’s
new satellite fry cart, the Spudnick. ALSO, Tiga isn’t even typically open on Sunday so you should come by just for
the sheer novelty of the night. This project has been really amazing to produce but I really haven’t seen my friends
in months so I’m looking forward to socializing again.
C’mon, let’s get fry grease all over these nice new screen-printed covers!
Here’s a list of the contributors:
Ashby Lee Collinson
Cord Bueker, Jnr.
May Juliette Barruel
Thank you all again for taking part in this, you’re truly wonderful!
There’s been too many posts lately that have been just about my face. Lots of projects coming to fruition though so the diversity
will return soon enough. As it is, this post also contains my face.
Recently, I had the great pleasure of participating in Nationale‘s first anniversary portrait show. Above is my tiny drawing of Laurel McSpadden,
who I haven’t met but she seems lovely. It sold the other day, which is nice. There are a massive amount of pieces in the show, really great stuff.
Apparently, someone did a portrait of me too:
David had come up with the idea of making an Ugly Face Soundboard awhile back. I had recorded a bunch of awful sounds for it last month
but more or less had no idea what was going on with it. I figued it would be an online thing.
Its offline appearance at the show was a delightful shocker on my part.
Push the buttons and an ugly face whips across the screen, accompanied by some sort of noise I make. Sorry I didn’t take any video of it,
I expect it will be online relatively soon. You know, for the holidays.
Anyway, go to Nationale and you can use it yourself. While you’re there, you should also buy a big brick of french soap or tobacco perfume
or beautifully designed book or some other rare object May has gathered for selling.
